Leveling up and upgrading your skill is essential both at work and in your personal life

In my experience, here are several tips for you to keep better and improving yourself everyday

Know where you are

Before jumping to reading books and getting to work, it’s important to know where you are right now. This is critical so that you don’t waste your time learning things you don’t really need or prioritize in your work or life

One way to do this, you can use the SWOT framework to analyze yourself, so you know which skills you are great at and which you need to improve

Choose Your Priority Now

Once you understand where you are, you need to choose which skill you want to level up. To do this, try to reflect on your life at work:

1. Which work does that make you struggle a lot

2. Which work are you already great and can be improved even further

3. Which work do you think will help you in the future

Prioritize the one with the biggest impact and biggest urgency. After that, schedule other items you think are also important but can be delayed for later

Work on improving it

Once you are done with the planning, it’s time to work on it! Choose which method suits you best. Some prefer readings, others prefer watching videos. Just choose what you like better and be consistent with it. In order to materialize from your learnings. Try to put it into practice, share it with others, and ask for feedback. This is the best way to improve your skill

Measure and Analyze

Once you do that routine, don’t forget to measure and analyze periodically your progress. This way, you will know if your learning has been good or if you might need to change things a little bit to make sure you are growing. This is also the right time to check if you still need to work on this skill or move on to another skill to learn

Get Your Mentor

If possible, it will be better if you can find a mentor whether internal or external to your company. That way, you will be able to learn from the expert him/herself. To do this, you need to expand your networking. You need to do your research and talk to them. By having one, you can also measure and analyze your progress better as well because you have an expert to check your progress

Level up is an obligation for your better career. It is not easy, especially if you have a hard and time-consuming job. However, if you want to be better at your career and personal life, you must do it, whether you like it or not
